By far the largest operator in the Luton & District area is Arriva the Shires with an operating area stretching from Essex to Oxfordshire. Despite the corporate nature of the company there are still a great many non-standard types in the fleet. This collection shows both the standard types and the not-so-common vehicles that could be seen in 2005. Towards the end of the year, following an investigation by the Monopolies & Mergers Commision, the Stevenage & Hatfield operations of Sovereign were acquired from the Blazefield Group.
